Does anyone else feel like summer hasn't really started? I think for me its a combination of San Diego's notorious "June Gloom" and also that I have no multiple-week-long breaks to look forward too. Usually the 4th of July fully marks that summer has arrived! Or at least growing up the 4th of July always meant homemade ice cream, fire flies, humidity, fireworks, pool parties, and lazy days ahead with friends and family. Even though life isn't quite as charmed in the real world, we've got a few fun events lined up for this summer.
This weekend we are going to Snowflake, Arizona to visit my Grandparents. My Grandparents are a fun pair and we're excited to hang out with them, go to the rodeo, and explore the cute town. I am leaving work early tomorrow for the road trip and we are coming back on Monday night. I've been in the mood to go on a road trip the past couple weeks so we're excited. And we are totally stopping in Gilbert, Arizona to get Cafe Rio on the way.

The next event of the summer is "the Whitt Family Reunion" at Bear Lake, Utah. We are looking forward to a trip filled with tons of family, great food, games, and hanging out at the Lake.

We are taking this guy (my little brother Wade) home with us from the family reunion. He has come to visit us each summer since Nate and I have been married. I'm glad he still thinks its cool to come see us. We are excited to show him around San Diego and have some fun things planned.

The next week Nathan's sister Katie and her husband Jason with their two boys David and Jacob are coming to San Diego. Steve and Angela also might be coming with their baby Alice and Mike will come down from BYU. My mother-in-law Helen is going to watch the grandkids and Nate's takes everyone on a sailing trip to Catalina island! Nate's family does this every summer and its a ton of fun. Catalina is about 80 miles away from San Diego and we sail through the night to get there. The boat is big enough for everyone to sleep on and its always a fun week of swimming, snorkeling, reading, getting tan, visiting, and taking the dingy up the coast and into the little town on the island.
Those are our summer plans!
Now if only I could walk to the pool and eat popsicles in between the fun events like the old days...
